Kwara Govt speaks on ‘building new government house'

Gov AbdulRazaq

The Kwara State Government has debunked claims that it is constructing a new Government House in Ilorin, clarifying that it has instead commenced the development of new office buildings for improved public service delivery.

This clarification follows allegations by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the government was prioritizing the construction of a new Government House. PDP spokesman, Olusola Adewara, had in a recent statement accused the administration of misplacing priorities.

However, during the official flag-off of the project, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, described the PDP’s claim as false and misleading.

Dr. Ogunsola explained that the project is solely aimed at expanding office spaces to better accommodate civil and public servants. He noted that the one-storey office complex, located next to the Deputy Governor’s Office within the Government House premises, is in line with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s commitment to creating a more efficient and conducive working environment.

The commissioner stated that the new structure will feature a conference room and multiple offices, tailored to support smooth administrative functions.

He assured that the Ministry will monitor the project closely to ensure quality delivery within the projected one-year completion timeline, urging the contractor to strictly follow the specifications.

“These new offices will address existing space constraints and promote modern, effective public administration,” Ogunsola said. “They will ultimately enhance governance and extend benefits to residents across the state.”
