JUST IN: Terrorist Bello Turji surrenders arms, releases captives

Notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji has surrendered some of his weapons and released 32 kidnapped individuals following peace talks led by Islamic clerics in Zamfara State’s Shinkafi axis.

The dialogue, initiated by residents of Shinkafi to gain safe access to their farmlands, involved three meetings in July within the Fakai forest.

Prominent cleric Musa Yusuf (Asadus-Sunnah) disclosed the development during a religious gathering in Kaduna.

Yusuf confirmed that Turji and other key terror figures—Dan Bakkolo, Black, Kanawa, and Malam Ila—agreed to a peace deal, releasing captives and surrendering weapons in phases.

The freed victims, including women and children, had spent four months in captivity, with some giving birth and others suffering injuries.

Residents are reportedly now farming peacefully, although Turji was not asked to surrender all his arms to avoid exposure to rival groups. Cleric Yusuf urged restraint in public commentary, warning that negative rhetoric could derail the peace efforts.
