JUST IN: Police summon El-rufai, 7 ADC leaders

The Kaduna State Police Command has invited former governor of the state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, and seven senior members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for questioning over allegations of criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing grievous hurt.
A police letter dated September 4, 2025, signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police (CID), Uzainu Abdullahi, directed the ADC state chairman to produce El-Rufai and the others at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) on September 8.
Those summoned include Bashir Sa’idu, Jafaru Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (popularly known as “30”), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini (alias “Mikiya”).
The invitation letter, titled “Investigation Activities: Case of Criminal Conspiracy, Inciting Disturbance of Public Peace, Mischief and Causing Grievous Hurt”, said the individuals were required to clarify allegations lodged against them by unnamed complainants.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, security operatives sealed off the ADC secretariat at No. 4, Ali Akilu Road, Kaduna, a few hours before a scheduled solidarity visit by the North-West leadership of the party. Witnesses said several police patrol vans were deployed to block access to the premises.
The development follows violent attacks last week during an ADC coalition meeting convened under El-Rufai’s leadership at the NUT Endwell Conference Hall in Magadishu Layout, Kaduna. Thugs reportedly vandalised vehicles and property despite the presence of armed policemen earlier deployed to disrupt the gathering.
Opposition leaders have accused the state government of mounting pressure on event centres to cancel their bookings for political meetings.
In reaction, an ADC chieftain, Yusuf Shehu Bello, has dragged the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police before the Federal High Court in Kaduna. Bello, through his lawyer, Barrister Farouk Dikko, is seeking an injunction to restrain the police from suspending or disrupting political meetings in public spaces or hotels across the state.
