JUST IN: Nollywood actress Aunty Ajara dies
Popular Nollywood actress Ajara Lasisi, widely known as Aunty Ajara, has passed away following a prolonged illness.
Her death was announced on Thursday by Nollywood director Tobi Oladele, also called Tee Mony, through a statement shared on Instagram. According to him, the actress died overnight after battling health challenges for some time.
He expressed gratitude to fans, colleagues, and supporters across the world who offered prayers, financial assistance, and encouragement during her treatment.
The filmmaker also urged the public to stop sending donations to previously shared accounts, noting that further financial contributions were no longer necessary.
Ajara’s elder brother, Ridwan Lasisi, confirmed the news in a video message, appreciating Nigerians and industry members for their support while asking well-wishers to respect the family during their period of mourning.
Her passing comes weeks after several Nollywood personalities appealed for financial help as her health reportedly worsened despite ongoing treatment. Industry colleagues and fans had rallied around her with donations and public support.
