Nigeria will not feature in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after FIFA dismissed the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) appeal regarding the Super Eagles’ playoff loss to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The appeal came after the November 16 intercontinental playoff final in Rabat, Morocco, which ended 1–1, with DR Congo winning 4–3 on penalties.

Nigeria argued that some DRC players were ineligible to play, citing possible rule breaches.

FIFA, however, confirmed all players were properly registered and cleared to participate, and no violations of its rules or CAF regulations were found.
