JAMB shifts university admission deadline to Nov 17

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the completion of admission processes into public universities from October 31 to November 17, 2025.

The extension was announced in a statement issued today by the Board’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.

According to the statement, the decision followed appeals from the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU) and other developments affecting the admission process.

“You will recall that the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on July 18, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, fixed October 31 as the deadline for all public universities to conclude their admission processes,” the statement read in part.

JAMB explained that it approved the extension due to two key reasons: a court order that temporarily halted the 2025/2026 admission list and the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) recent accreditation of 229 new programmes across 37 universities on October 29.

“In light of these developments, and to ensure fairness and inclusiveness, the Board hereby extends the deadline for the completion of 2025 public university admissions to Monday, November 17, 2025,” JAMB stated.

The Board emphasised that the new deadline is final and must be strictly adhered to, while appreciating institutions for their cooperation in the admission process.

Meanwhile, on September 18, 2025, JAMB also extended the deadline for universities to submit Post-UTME screening scores of underage candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to October 30.

Benjamin noted that the extension was reached in collaboration with affected institutions, adding that reminders had been sent via email to defaulting universities to ensure compliance with the overall admission timelines.
