Ikeja Electric announces 25-day blackout in Lagos

Ikeja Electric has announced a 25-day power outage affecting parts of Lagos State due to scheduled maintenance work by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

In a public notice shared via its official social media platforms on Friday, the power distribution company disclosed that the outage will begin on Monday, July 28, and continue through Thursday, August 21, 2025. The blackout will occur daily between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

“Please be informed that Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will carry out scheduled maintenance on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line from Monday, July 28 to Thursday, August 21, 2025, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily,” the notice read.

Ikeja Electric further noted that during the maintenance period, customers may experience intermittent power supply and load shedding across its network.

The company appealed for understanding from affected customers, emphasizing that the maintenance is necessary to enhance the reliability and efficiency of power transmission in the region.
