Ibrahim Chatta’s pay chart hits ₦5 million

Veteran Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta is currently trending on social media following reports that his per-movie earnings have skyrocketed to an impressive ₦5 million.

The revelation was made by veteran actor Mustapha Bakare Oloto, who spoke during a recent interview that has since gone viral online. Oloto opened up about the realities of the Nigerian movie industry, especially the widening earnings gap between younger, commercially successful actors and older veterans who laid the foundation for the industry.

According to him, while many experienced actors in the Yoruba movie industry still earn between ₦250,000 and ₦300,000 per project, Chatta’s market value has risen significantly due to his consistency, versatility, and fan base.

“If Ibrahim Chatta appears on a movie set, he has been paid ₦5 million. That’s the amount he currently charges. He is the highest-paid actor presently,” Oloto disclosed.

The veteran further explained that Chatta’s high demand has positioned him as one of the most sought-after actors in contemporary Nollywood.

“He can feature in as many as 20 movies in a month. I brought him to my movie, Jigi, which we shot in Ogbomoso recently. His value is well deserved because he delivers quality performances and draws audiences,” Oloto added.

However, he lamented that the disparity in pay has made it increasingly difficult for many older actors to finance or produce cinema-quality films.

“You can’t compare him and other younger actors to some of us who earn less and appear in just one or two films a month. That’s one of the major reasons it’s hard for many veteran actors to produce big-budget cinema movies,” he said.

Ibrahim Chatta, who has starred in several award-winning Yoruba and English-language films, is widely respected for his versatility and ability to interpret diverse roles. Over the years, he has built a strong reputation both as an actor and a filmmaker, commanding a large following among fans and colleagues alike.
