I never said that!- Ashmusy addresses ₦100m in 10 days claim
Nigerian skit maker and social media influencer, Amarachi Amusi, popularly known as Ashmusy, has addressed the viral controversy surrounding her online class promotion, which claimed participants could make ₦100 million in just 10 days.
The debate started after a poster advertising her class surfaced online, boldly suggesting that attendees could earn ₦100 million within that period. The claim quickly sparked mixed reactions, with many Nigerians questioning its credibility.
Responding in a video shared on her Instagram page, Ashmusy clarified that the headline was never meant to be taken literally but was simply a marketing tactic to draw attention.
“I never said make ₦100 million in 10 days. It was just a headline, something catchy to grab people’s attention,” she explained.
Her clarification has continued to generate conversations online, with some users accusing her of misleading advertising. One X user, @NickyTonero1, wrote: “You could make 100m and you still want to charge 30k per person to teach people.” Another, @Thevictorjosh, said: “That’s what we call misleading ad content.”
The backlash reflects a growing scepticism among Nigerians toward influencer-led business classes, especially as many people seek legitimate ways to earn extra income in a tough economy. Ashmusy, who rose to fame through comedy skits and brand promotions, is one of several influencers now venturing into mentorship and online classes, but her experience underscores how sensitive audiences have become to exaggerated marketing claims.
