I didn’t direct anyone to join ADC in Kwara

Former Senate President and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP and urged his supporters in Kwara State to remain loyal to the party.

Addressing a large gathering of party stakeholders from across the state at his residence in Ilorin on Tuesday, Saraki emphasized that the PDP remains united and strong amid speculations of defections to the newly formed African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“I never directed anyone to join ADC,” Saraki said. “We are staying in PDP because we believe in the ongoing efforts to reposition the party. These efforts will bear fruit, and we must remain committed.”

He also used the occasion to brief members on the outcomes of the recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting and preparations for the upcoming national convention.

The former Kwara governor urged party members to take the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled to begin on August 18, seriously. He commended them for their enthusiasm during the last membership revalidation exercise and encouraged continued grassroots engagement.

Earlier, the PDP Chairman in Kwara State, Hon. Babatunde Muhammed, dismissed reports of a coalition involving the PDP, saying, “The PDP is intact in Kwara and remains the only true opposition party in Nigeria. We’re not part of any merger or coalition.”

He also announced that nomination forms for the state congress would soon be available, with chairmanship aspirants to pay ₦1 million, and ward executive aspirants ₦20,000.

Among dignitaries at the meeting were former PDP National Chairman Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje, PDP National Legal Adviser Mr. Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), former State House of Assembly Speaker Prof. Ahmad Ali, and other key party leaders.
