Hilda Baci kicks off giant jollof rice record attempt

Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has officially started her daring attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.
The historic cook-off is taking place at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, as part of the “Gino Jollof Festival” in partnership with seasoning and culinary brand, Gino. According to report, she started at exactly 2:25pm.
Baci, who made global headlines in 2023 after setting the record for the longest cooking marathon, is once again in the spotlight, this time with a custom-built pot measuring six metres wide and six metres tall, into which 250 bags of rice will be cooked.
Moments before firing up the burners, Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre prayed for her success and blessed the attempt.
The event has attracted massive attention, with social media influencers like Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Tomike Adeoye, Folagade Banks, and Veekee James present to cheer her on.
Organisers revealed that over 20,000 people registered to attend the free festival, which has drawn crowds of Gen Zs, millennials, food enthusiasts, and celebrities.
Speaking ahead of the record attempt, Baci assured guests that the meal would be both “amazing and hygienic,” promising an unforgettable, history making experience of Nigerian jollof rice.
