Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Baci, is set to embark on another audacious culinary adventure — cooking the largest pot of jollof rice in the world.

In a post on Instagram on Friday, the 28-year-old chef announced that the dish will be prepared in a specially designed pot measuring six meters in width and six meters in height.

Baci revealed that the project has been in planning for two years, describing it not just as a cooking feat but as a cultural celebration of Nigerian food, music, and community. The cook-off will take place on September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“In 2023, the Hilda Baci cookathon took the world by storm. This year, it is Jollof — the heartbeat of West Africa,” she wrote. “It is more than cooking; it is a celebration of our food, our culture, our music, and us. We are making history again, and I want you to be there when it happens.”

She added that the vision was inspired by her dream of showcasing Nigerian jollof rice to the world on an unprecedented scale. The project is being supported by Gino, a popular food seasoning and tomato paste brand.

Baci first gained global recognition in May 2023 when she set the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, an achievement that captured worldwide attention.

Her record, however, was later broken by Irish chef Alan Fisher in November of the same year.

The upcoming Lagos event is expected to draw massive crowds and will serve not only as a culinary milestone but also as a festival of culture, celebrating West Africa’s most iconic dish.
