Hakimi responds to rap£ allegations

Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi has spoken publicly for the first time about the rape allegations against him, insisting he is innocent and confident the truth will emerge.

In an interview with Bertrand Latour on Canal+ Foot Africa over the weekend, Hakimi described the accusations as “horrible” and “unfair,” saying he remains calm and focused on his family and football.

“I am calm. Being falsely accused is horrible, unfair. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I know the truth will come out. I have nothing to blame myself for, and those who know me are aware of that,” Hakimi said.

French prosecutors in Nanterre recently called for the 26-year-old to face trial over an alleged incident on February 25, 2023, in which a 24-year-old woman claims she was assaulted at Hakimi’s home while his wife, actress Hiba Abouk, was abroad.

Hakimi, who could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted, denies the allegations. The case remains ongoing.
