Grammy: Davido becomes voting member of recording academy

Nigerian music star Davido has officially joined the Recording Academy, the organization behind the Grammy Awards, gaining the ability to vote in determining winners.

Calling the milestone “a gamechanger,” the Afrobeats singer said in a video message that being a voting member gives him a voice in deciding which works are considered each season.

“I am honored to join the Academy and look forward to participating in the voting process,” Davido added.

The singer previously earned three Grammy nominations in 2024 without winning. His fourth nomination came in 2025 for Sensational, his collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay, which was shortlisted for Best African Music Performance but lost to Tems’ Love Me Jeje.
