Gov Adeleke speaks on ‘joining ADC’

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has debunked reports suggesting he plans to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election, describing the speculation as false and misleading.

In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), asserting that he remains fully aligned with the party and intends to seek re-election on its platform.

“The governor is not in any form of alliance with the ADC or any other political group,” the statement said. “He will run and win under the PDP, as he currently enjoys broad-based support from the people of Osun due to his exceptional track record in office.”

Governor Adeleke emphasized that he does not require any political alliance to secure victory, pointing to his administration’s achievements and popularity across the state.

The statement also noted that the PDP in Osun State had declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, highlighting the party’s unity and strategic focus at both state and national levels.

Rasheed further stated that Adeleke is currently focused on consolidating his administration’s gains and delivering more democratic dividends to the people, efforts that have earned him significant goodwill.

“Osun residents are resolute in their backing of Governor Adeleke. His administration has brought transformative changes and restored public confidence in governance. The people are eager to renew his mandate come 2026,” he added.

The governor called on PDP members across Osun to intensify grassroots mobilization and strengthen party structures ahead of the 2026 elections, expressing confidence in another resounding victory for the party.
