Gbenga Ogunbote bids farewell to Shooting Stars after 3-year spell

REPUBLICAN NIGERIA gathered that veteran tactician Gbenga Ogunbote has officially confirmed his departure from Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), marking the end of a three-year stint with the Ibadan-based club.

Ogunbote, widely respected in the Nigerian football scene for his tactical acumen and leadership, took to social media to announce his exit and express gratitude to the club and its supporters.

“My time with Shooting Stars has officially come to an end. I want to thank the fans, my players, technical crew, backroom staff, and everyone who supported me throughout this journey. Your love never went unnoticed,” the coach wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Under Ogunbote’s guidance, Shooting Stars maintained a steady presence in the NPFL and improved their competitive outlook, though the club fell short of major silverware during his tenure.

Reacting to his departure, the management of Shooting Stars extended their appreciation to the outgoing coach for his commitment and service to the team.

“We say goodbye to Coach Gbenga Ogunbote as he steps down as Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars SC. Thank you for the moments, the passion, and the memories. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter,” the club stated in a farewell message.
