The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has accused popular Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, of breaching aviation protocols and assaulting an airport security officer during a boarding incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

In a statement signed by FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mrs. Obiageli Orah, the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the airport’s domestic terminal.

According to FAAN, the musician was scheduled to board ValueJet Flight VK 201 to Lagos when he attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance onto the plane.

Despite being informed by Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the flight captain that liquids above 100ml are prohibited unless medically necessary and properly declared, KWAM 1 allegedly refused to comply.

The statement revealed that when an airline security officer asked him to step aside for clarification, the musician became confrontational and allegedly poured the contents of his flask—later confirmed to be alcohol—on the officer.

The situation reportedly escalated when the flight captain tried to intervene. After boarding was concluded, the captain ordered the aircraft doors to be shut. However, KWAM 1 allegedly moved toward the front of the plane and refused to disembark, further delaying the flight.

He was eventually escorted off the aircraft by AVSEC’s crime unit and released shortly afterward. FAAN said the matter is under thorough investigation and emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on actions that threaten aviation safety or disrupt airport operations.

“The Authority will not tolerate any actions that compromise operational integrity or undermine aviation safety standards, regardless of the individuals involved,” FAAN stated.

It was gathered that the disruption led the ValueJet pilots to take off in a hurry without proper clearance from aviation authorities, resulting in their suspension.

A viral video circulating online shows the aircraft moving away from the scene of the altercation, nearly hitting the musician in the process.

FAAN concluded by reaffirming its commitment to safety, security, and professionalism across all Nigerian airports, vowing to hold all parties accountable in accordance with the law.
