From hawking to heroics: Super Falcons captain Ajibade shares testimony at MFM prayer service

Super Falcons captain and Atletico Madrid forward, Rasheedat Ajibade, has opened up about her humble beginnings and spiritual journey to becoming a continental football champion.

Speaking on Saturday during the August edition of the Power Must Change Hands programme at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Prayer City in Ogun State, Ajibade shared how she once hawked items like Olive oil, Kunu, and Zobo drinks within church grounds before rising to international prominence.

“Whenever things are tough at my club or with the national team, I pray,” Ajibade said. “I do my part through hard work, but I never forget to seek God’s help.”

Reflecting on her early life, the Super Falcons star added, “I was once one of those young girls hawking Olive oil, Kunu, and Zobo during deliverance programmes. But today, I give glory to God.”

Ajibade urged the congregation and Nigerian youths not to lose hope. “Please, don’t give up. Keep praying, keep fasting, keep working, and keep believing,” she encouraged.

Ajibade captained Nigeria to its 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco. She was named Player of the Tournament and received three Woman of the Match awards.

Though she netted only once, her leadership and performance were instrumental throughout the competition.
