Former NAFDAC DG, Paul Orhii resigns from PDP

Former Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Botwev Orhii, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dr. Orhii, who once contested for the Benue State governorship under the PDP, becomes the latest prominent figure to exit the party amid ongoing political realignments in the state.

In a resignation letter dated July 28, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman in Ushongo Local Government Area, Orhii said his decision followed “intensive consultation with family, friends, and thousands of political associates locally, nationally, and globally.”

Sources close to the former NAFDAC boss indicate that he is set to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where many of his close allies have recently defected.

Orhii’s departure is seen as a significant blow to the PDP in Benue, given his strong grassroots following and track record of humanitarian and charitable interventions across the state.
