Fire destroys multi-million naira property at Ibadan industrial firm
A fire outbreak has destroyed properties worth millions of naira at Shril-Balaj Industrial Limited, located in the Olopomeji area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday and affected the recycling section of the facility, which contained a large stockpile of disused tyres.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, said the fire service received the alert at around 7:07 a.m. on Sunday.
“The fire started after an explosion from a running machine ignited nearby flammable materials,” Akinwande explained. “The recycling section and tyres were affected, but our team was able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other areas of the facility.”
No casualties were reported in the incident, and further investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage.
