FG to punish Ibom Air official who released ‘unruly’ passenger’s indecent video

Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has strongly condemned the unauthorized release of an indecent video clip involving Comfort Emmanson, a passenger on an Ibom Air flight.

Keyamo described the leak as “totally unacceptable” and ordered a thorough investigation to identify and sanction the staff responsible for sharing the footage.

He emphasized the need to uphold respect for womanhood and protect individuals from public humiliation.

The minister also highlighted the measures taken following the incident, including an indefinite flight ban imposed on Emmanson by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and her subsequent arraignment at Ikeja Magistrates Court for criminal offenses. Due to inability to meet court sureties, she was remanded at Kirikiri prison.

Acknowledging the scuffle between the passenger and ground personnel—stemming from her uncooperative behavior—Keyamo supported the use of video evidence to prosecute but stressed that sharing the indecent portions publicly was unacceptable.

He further instructed airlines to enhance staff training in public relations and conflict management to better handle potentially volatile situations. Additionally, a joint security meeting between relevant agencies has been scheduled next week to improve coordination in handling such incidents.

Keyamo reminded passengers that the NCAA’s Consumer Protection Directorate provides established channels for lodging grievances and cautioned against taking the law into one’s own hands.
