The Federal Government has refuted claims suggesting the cancellation of the 2025 West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) exams.

In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, Director of Press at the Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, described the reports as “entirely fabricated, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary panic and confusion.”

She stated that the 2025 WAEC examinations have already been successfully concluded, with only a few isolated cases of malpractice—all of which were promptly handled by the appropriate authorities. She added that the Ministry had not received any official complaints or reports of widespread malpractice from WAEC, NECO, or any other examination body.

“The Ministry categorically distances itself from the fake news and wishes to clarify the situation to the general public,” Boriowo said.

She urged Nigerians to rely only on credible and verified sources of information, including the official websites of the Federal Ministry of Education (www.education.gov.ng), WAEC (www.waecnigeria.org), and NECO (www.neco.gov.ng).

Boriowo further emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to upholding the integrity and credibility of public examinations in the country. She noted that the government would continue to collaborate with examination bodies to strengthen monitoring and enforcement mechanisms.
