Female corps member assaulted, stripped naked by vigilante group in Anambra

A female corps member, Jennifer Edema Elohor, has been assaulted and stripped naked by operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Achi (Agunechemba Vigilante Group) in Anambra State, sparking outrage across the country.

The incident, which occurred on July 23, 2025, became public after a disturbing video of the attack went viral on Monday.

The footage shows armed vigilante operatives storming a corps lodge, beating Elohor and other NYSC members, stripping her naked, and subjecting her to degrading insults.

The Haven360 Foundation, which is providing support for the victims, said the vigilante operatives accused the corps members of internet fraud despite their immediate identification with NYSC uniforms and ID cards.

Condemning the assault as a gross violation of human rights, the foundation called on the Anambra State Government to investigate and prosecute those involved. It also urged the Federal Government to intervene and ensure justice, while demanding compensation for the victims.

“The assault on Jennifer Edema Elohor, who was stripped naked, beaten, and left bleeding, represents the height of abuse of power,” the foundation said in a statement. “The victims were further subjected to sexually degrading language and threats of sexual violence.”

The viral video has triggered widespread condemnation, with civil society groups and concerned Nigerians demanding stronger protection for corps members across the country.
