Fayose predicts PDP position in 2027 election

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has raised alarm over the deepening crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), warning that the party may finish in fourth place in the 2027 general elections if issues remain unresolved.

Fayose made the remarks during an appearance on Politics Today, a political programme aired on Channels Television on Friday.

Speaking candidly, Fayose expressed regret over the state of the party, stating, “PDP will come fourth in the next general election. A lot is wrong with our party, and that is the naked truth. It is unfortunate.”

He also revealed that he was invited but could not attend the party’s recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

The PDP has been grappling with internal divisions and a growing leadership crisis. These challenges have led to defections by some of the party’s prominent figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President David Mark, who have reportedly aligned with the opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Fayose’s comments reflect the deepening uncertainty about the PDP’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections, as internal wranglings continue to weaken the once-dominant political force.
