Edo: Peter Obi dares Okpebholo

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, has rejected a directive from Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, which mandated him to seek security clearance before visiting the state.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday at Christ The King College (CKC), Onitsha, Anambra State, Obi stated that he would continue to visit Edo State freely and at his discretion. “I’m used to receiving threats. I will go to Edo any time I want,” he declared.

The former Anambra State governor advised Governor Okpebholo to focus on supporting public institutions rather than issuing threats. He made the remarks after donating N50 million to his alma mater on behalf of the school’s alumni, aimed at supporting the management’s developmental projects.

Obi was warmly received by the Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, along with the school’s management and students. Commending the institution, he praised the administration for what he called the “phenomenal work” being carried out at the college.

According to Obi, the donation was a collective effort by some old boys of the college who decided to give back to the school that shaped them.

In his remarks, Archbishop Okeke applauded Obi’s continued contributions to nation-building and his commitment to education, describing him as a patriot working toward a better Nigeria.
