Dele Momodu dumps PDP, joins ADC amid party crisis
Renowned media entrepreneur and politician, Dele Momodu, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the party’s alleged hijack by “antidemocratic forces.”
In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of PDP Ward 4 in Ihievbe, Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, Momodu described the PDP as a “carcass,” claiming it has been taken over “in broad daylight” by internal and external undemocratic interests.
“My reason is simple and straightforward. Our party has been unarguably hijacked by antidemocratic forces, from within and outside, in broad daylight,” Momodu wrote. “It is therefore honorable to abandon the carcass of the party to them while majority of us earnestly sign up with the new coalition party known as the African Democratic Congress (ADC).”
He also expressed appreciation to the ward chairman for his support during his time in the party.
Momodu’s departure comes just days after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also exited the PDP, signaling a major realignment within Nigeria’s opposition political space.
The move underscores growing discontent among top PDP members and a shift toward alternative platforms, as political forces begin to position themselves for the 2027 general elections.
