Dangote Group reacts to d£ath of Phyna’s sister, Ruth Otabor

The Dangote Group has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna. Ruth succumbed weeks after being involved in a road accident with one of the company’s trucks near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State.

Her death was formally confirmed by Eko Solicitors & Advocates, acting on behalf of the Otabor family.

In a statement issued shortly after the announcement, Dangote Group said:
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ruth Otabor, who sustained injuries in the recent road incident involving one of our trucks in Auchi, Edo State.”

The company emphasized that, from the moment of the accident, its officials and insurance partners had been providing continuous support to Ruth and her family, covering all medical and financial expenses. Plans had also been made to transfer her abroad for advanced treatment once medical clearance was obtained.

“Since the accident, our officials and insurance partners have stood by her side, covering all costs and supporting her family. Arrangements were in place to fly her to India for advanced treatment, pending clearance from her doctors,” the statement read.

“Tragically, despite these efforts and Ruth’s courageous fight, we lost her today,” it added.

Dangote Group reaffirmed its dedication to safety and accountability, pledging to continue improving its operational standards. The company also extended heartfelt condolences to the Otabor family.

“At Dangote Group, safety, accountability, and compassion are central to our operations. We remain committed to strengthening safety systems and supporting those affected in times of tragedy. May God grant her mercy and eternal rest,” the statement concluded.
