Alaafin issues stern warning to Ooni of Ife over traditional title

Alaafin, Ooni

The spokesperson for the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Mr. Moses Olafare, has dismissed the 48-hour ultimatum issued by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, describing it as “an empty threat from a dead empire.”

Oba Owoade had warned that the Ooni must withdraw the Oluomo of Yorubaland title allegedly bestowed on a business mogul within two days.

Reacting on Tuesday through a post monitored on his social media handle, Olafare mocked the ultimatum, calling those behind it “jokers.”

He said the Ooni is focused on job creation and youth empowerment, not supremacy battles.

“Ooni is busy setting up businesses and creating jobs across Yorubaland, while they are busy fighting supremacy that doesn’t exist. Dead Empire!” Olafare wrote.

He further noted that the Ooni is preparing for the launch of the Ojaja Smart City Project in Ibadan, “the biggest in Africa,” contrasting it with what he described as “48-hour empty threats over a title that doesn’t even exist.”
