BREAKING: Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanran passes away

Veteran Nollywood actor, Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, has passed away at the age of 72.

Celebrity journalist Seun Oloketuyi confirmed the actor’s death in an Instagram post on Friday.

According to Oloketuyi, the Yoruba film legend died on Friday morning, though details surrounding his passing have not yet been made public.

Before his demise, Chief Kanran was a household name in the Yoruba film industry, renowned for his distinctive style, humour, and powerful stage presence. Over several decades, he captivated audiences through countless stage plays and movies, earning a lasting place in Nigeria’s entertainment history.

“Popular actor, Segun Remi, popularly known as Chief Kanran, died Friday morning,” Oloketuyi wrote.
