President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a one-year extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

Originally scheduled to end on August 31, 2025, Mr. Adeniyi will now remain in office until 2026. The extension, announced by the Presidency on Thursday, aims to provide continuity in the implementation of key reforms and strategic projects within the Customs Service.

According to the statement, the extension will allow Mr. Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing modernisation efforts within the NCS, oversee the full rollout of the National Single Window Project, and ensure Nigeria meets its commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.
