BREAKING: Rashidi Ladoja endorsed as 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland

The Olubadan-In-Council has officially endorsed the Otun Olubadan, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. The decision comes after the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on July 7, 2025.

Announcing the endorsement on Monday, the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, said Ladoja’s name would be forwarded to Governor Seyi Makinde for formal approval.

“The council believes Ladoja’s experience as a former governor and his strong ties to Ibadan make him well-suited to lead at this time,” Oba Ajibola said. “We expect his reign to bring unity, reconciliation, and development to Ibadanland.”

Oba Ajibola emphasized that Ladoja’s leadership is expected to strike a balance between preserving tradition and embracing modern progress.

The announcement has been widely welcomed across Ibadan, with many residents hopeful that Ladoja will usher in a new chapter of growth and stability for the ancient city.

A formal public presentation will be held following the governor’s confirmation.
