The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at its ongoing National Convention, has confirmed the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose; and the suspended National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

Also expelled were Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN), Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, George Turner, and Hon. Umar Bature.

The motion for their expulsion was moved by former PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Olabode George, who accused the affected members of engaging in activities capable of undermining and destabilising the party.

Earlier, the Secretary of the National Convention Organising Committee, Senator Ben Obi, moved a motion—seconded by Mr Emmanuel Enoidem (SAN)—to declare the gathering an Elective Convention.

Governor Seyi Makinde also moved a motion for the ratification of executive committees and party structures arising from congresses conducted in line with the PDP constitution and monitored by INEC and security agencies. The ratification excluded Imo, Abia, Enugu, and Rivers states. Mr Daniel Obiechina Okechukwu seconded the motion.

The convention further approved the dissolution of the party’s current National Working Committee (NWC) and adopted proposed amendments to various sections of the PDP constitution.
