The Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Aloy Ejimakor, has reportedly collapsed inside Kuje Prison and is currently receiving medical treatment at the Kuje Medical Centre.

The development was confirmed on Saturday by one of Kanu’s lawyers, Maxwell Opara, who said Ejimakor was attended to immediately after the incident.

“Yes, I went to see him, and he has been admitted at the Kuje Medical Centre where he’s receiving treatment. I was there a few hours ago,” Opara told Daily Post.

He added that the collapse occurred before his arrival:

“The incident happened before I got there. When I arrived around noon, I heard the news. As one of his lawyers and colleagues, I insisted on seeing him, and they eventually took me to where he was.”

Opara also mentioned that he saw Omoyele Sowore and others during the visit before being allowed to see Ejimakor.

Ejimakor’s collapse comes barely 24 hours after a Kuje Magistrate Court judge, Abubakar Umar Sai’id, refused to sign his bail bond for release.

The Special Counsel was arrested on Monday alongside 12 others, including Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, during a #FreeNnamdiKanu protest in Abuja.

They were later arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Kuje following their arrest by the Nigeria Police Force.
