President Bola Tinubu has honoured each player of Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, with a $100,000 cash reward and a new apartment following their recent victory at the African championship.
In addition, each member of the coaching staff will receive $50,000 in recognition of their efforts.
The president also conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all team members for bringing pride to the nation.
This development comes shortly after a similar $150,000 reward to the Super Falcons, winners of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, which generated widespread public reactions.
