The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a new upward review in the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, effective September 1, 2025.

The disclosure was made in a statement on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, who explained that the adjustment applies strictly to applications made within Nigeria.

According to the revised fee structure, the 32-page passport with a five-year validity will now cost ₦100,000, while the 64-page passport with a 10-year validity will be ₦200,000.

For Nigerians in the diaspora, however, the current charges remain unchanged. Applicants abroad will continue to pay $150 for the 32-page, five-year option and $230 for the 64-page, 10-year passport.

The NIS noted that the increment was introduced to sustain the quality, integrity, and global standard of the Nigerian passport, while also ensuring continued accessibility for citizens.

The Service further assured that alongside the price adjustment, measures are being put in place to enhance service delivery, reduce bottlenecks, and make the passport issuance process more transparent.
