BREAKING: Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello passes away
The Emir of Gusau in Zamfara State, His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has died at the age of 71. He passed away on Friday in Abuja after battling a prolonged illness.
Dr. Bello, who became the 16th Emir of Gusau on March 16, 2015, following the death of his father, led the emirate for over ten years. Before ascending the throne, he had a distinguished career in public service, rising to the position of Permanent Secretary in the old Sokoto State and later in Zamfara State.
His death was confirmed by the spokesperson to Governor Dauda Lawal, Sulaiman Idis, who in an official statement conveyed the government’s condolences to the people of the state.
Governor Lawal described the late monarch as a devoted and visionary leader who worked tirelessly for the peace and progress of Zamfara.
“I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau,” the statement read. “His passing is a great loss, not only to Zamfara but to the entire Northern region and Nigeria. He was a supportive royal father and a committed leader who served his people with integrity and faith.”
Mourners across the state and beyond have continued to pay tribute to the late Emir, remembering his legacy of service, wisdom, and dedication to the welfare of his people.
