The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has emerged as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). His appointment was ratified during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.

Born on August 8, 1968, Yilwatda is a seasoned engineer, academic, and politician from Plateau State. He was appointed minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in October 2024 and has since overseen the country’s humanitarian and disaster response policies.

Yilwatda’s emergence follows the brief acting tenure of Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), who was asked by President Tinubu to assume interim leadership after the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Dalori’s acting role was a stop-gap measure ahead of Thursday’s NEC meeting, where Yilwatda was formally confirmed to lead the ruling party as it continues to consolidate power and steer national policies.
