Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has formally joined the Accord Party and announced his intention to seek a second term on its platform.

Adeleke made the declaration on Tuesday at the Government House Banquet Hall in Osogbo, where he was received by national and state leaders of the party. His defection comes days after officially leaving the Peoples Democratic Party.

The governor revealed that he had secretly joined the Accord Party on November 6 after weeks of consultations with political stakeholders, traditional leaders, and opinion moulders across the state.

“We intend to pursue a second term in office on the platform of the Accord Party to complete the ongoing delivery of good governance and democratic dividends,” he said. “We opted for Accord because its philosophy of welfarism aligns with our focus on citizens’ and workers’ welfare.”

Adeleke praised the party’s commitment to people-centred leadership and welcomed Accord officials into the Government House, saying they were now part of the state’s governance structure.

He added that Osun voters, who backed him in 2022, would again support continuity in 2026.
