Brazilian billionaire leaves £846m fortune to Neymar
A Brazilian billionaire who never personally met Neymar has reportedly left his entire fortune to the football superstar.
According to Brazilian outlet RIC, the unnamed businessman, with an estimated net worth of about £846 million, formalised his will in Porto Alegre on June 12 in the presence of two witnesses.
The case is now before Brazilian courts, which will decide whether Neymar can legally inherit the estate.
The billionaire, who was said to be single and without children, allegedly admired Neymar’s bond with his father, Neymar Sr., which reminded him of his own late father. Reports suggest he also felt a personal connection with the 33-year-old forward despite their paths never crossing.
Neymar has not yet commented on the reports. Legal experts, however, warn that even if the will is approved, it could face complications in court due to Brazil’s inheritance laws.
The winger returned to Brazil in January to rejoin boyhood club Santos, following a short stint with Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
He went on to score three goals in 14 matches in the second half of the 2024/25 season, adding to the 136 goals he recorded in 225 games during his first spell at Santos between 2009 and 2013.
