Blackout hits parts of Abuja, Kogi

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has announced power outages affecting several parts of the Federal Capital Territory and Kogi State.
In separate notices issued on Saturday and Sunday via its official X account, the company attributed the disruption in parts of Abuja to a technical fault.
Affected Abuja areas include Zulu Community, Eco Bank, Guardian Newspaper, ENL, Paradise Estate, FHA Guzape, Efab Classic Estate, Metro City Estate, Sticks & Stones, Yayala Estate, Trademore Estate, Choos Estate, Maxcare Plaza, Faith Plaza, Sunflower Plaza, Erifu Estate, DME Estate, Greenpath School, Earth Point Estate, Sunnyvale Estate, multiple Brains & Hammer estates, Hunters Garden, Bamaga Tukur Street, Eye Clinic, Best Way Hotel, Franca Afegbua Crescent, Defence College, and surrounding locations.
Other affected zones are Start Right School, Zone E Extension, Idu, Karmo, Citec Mbora, Airport Road, Nile University, Base University, Karimajiji, Kuchingoro, and nearby communities.
In Kogi, the outage—affecting Okene township, Osisi, Kabba Junction, FCE, Osar, Mark Farm, Kabba, Isanlu, Ososo, Magogo, Ikare, Ihima, and surrounding areas—was linked to planned maintenance by the Transmission Company of Nigeria on the Okpella–Okene 132kV line.
AEDC said the maintenance was aimed at improving supply reliability, adding: “We sincerely regret any inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this necessary activity.”
