Binani dumps APC, joins ADC in strategic political move

Former senator and 2023 governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in what appears to be a calculated shift ahead of future political engagements.
In a video circulating on social media, Binani was seen making her declaration surrounded by a group of enthusiastic supporters, mostly youths. “We have joined the ADC, and we are ready to work within it,” she declared. “We pray to God to help us and separate us from those who pretend to be with us but are actually destroying the party.”
Photographs from the scene also captured the former senator holding her ADC membership card, confirming her exit from the APC.
Binani, who represented Adamawa Central in the Senate, was the APC’s flagbearer in the 2023 governorship election but lost to the incumbent governor, Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in a contest marred by controversy and national attention.
Speaking on the development, Binani’s media aide, Maulud Usman, confirmed that the defection took place on Saturday upon her arrival in Yola. He noted that the declaration was made privately in the presence of close friends and family members.
According to Usman, the decision to join the ADC was intentionally kept low-profile, with no formal media coverage or party official involvement. He described the move as a personal and strategic decision, hinting at the former senator’s future political ambitions.
