APC wins Okura II State Constituency By-Election in Kogi

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Musa Hassan Yakubu, winner of the Okura II State Constituency by-election in Kogi State.
The Returning Officer, Professor Emmanuel Onoja Eneche, announced the results late Saturday night at the collation centre.
According to him, Yakubu secured 55,073 votes to defeat his closest rival, Godwin Meliga of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 1,038 votes.
Other results showed Egene Joseph Ugbede of the Action Peoples Movement (APM) with 445 votes, Amos Ahaiba of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with 141 votes, Rilwan Mudi of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) with 85 votes, and Yakubu Ugbede of the Action Alliance (AA) with 16 votes.
Although the election was largely peaceful, it witnessed low voter turnout and widespread voter apathy.
