APC reclaims Ganye Constituency seat in Adamawa Assembly after tight contest

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has regained the Ganye Constituency seat in the Adamawa State House of Assembly following a closely contested bye-election held on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
The seat became vacant after the death of former lawmaker Abdulmalik Musa, an APC member, in 2024.
In Saturday’s poll, the APC candidate, Misa Musa Jauro, secured victory with 16,923 votes, narrowly defeating the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Buba Muhammad Joda, who polled 16,794 votes.
The margin of just 129 votes underscored pre-election projections of a fierce two-horse race between the ruling PDP in Adamawa and the opposition APC.
Announcing the final results at about 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, the Returning Officer, Professor Tukur Ahmed, declared Jauro as the winner and duly elected member of the Adamawa State House of Assembly for Ganye Constituency.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) described the exercise as largely peaceful, though marked by intense competition between the two dominant parties.
The victory restores APC’s representation in the state legislature, while also boosting the party’s morale ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
