APC must unite ahead of 2027 elections

Minister of Power and Oyo APC chieftain, Adebayo Adelabu, has described the party’s defeat in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election as painful but instructive, urging members to embrace unity and reconciliation ahead of the 2027 polls.

In a statement issued through his media aide, Bolaji Tunji, Adelabu congratulated PDP’s Folajimi Oyekunle, winner of the election, but stressed that the result should serve as a wake-up call for the APC to address internal grievances.

He attributed the loss partly to voter apathy and divisions within the party, warning that the support of constituents must not be taken for granted.

Adelabu dismissed claims that he imposed APC’s candidate, Wale Olatunji Murphy, insisting he only pledged support for whoever emerged at the primaries.

The minister expressed confidence that 2027 would present a different outcome, arguing that Governor Seyi Makinde’s influence would diminish by then. He called on APC leaders to avoid blame games, prioritize reconciliation, and restore the people’s confidence in the party.
