The wife of the Anambra State governor and founder of Healthy Living with Nonye, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has strongly condemned the assault of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, describing the act as disturbing and unacceptable.
In a statement issued in Awka, Dr. Soludo reacted to a viral video showing operatives of the Agunechemba security formation physically assaulting a female corps member serving in the state.
“There is no justification whatsoever for such an ugly and humiliating abuse,” she said. “Such demeaning actions do not reflect our celebrated identity as a hospitable people or the humane philosophy of our administration. Rules of engagement must always prioritize dignity, civility, and respect.”
She urged the relevant authorities to ensure justice is served and stressed the need to protect Anambra’s image.
“I find the Oba incident very disturbing and appeal to the appropriate authorities to take decisive measures, not only to entrench justice but also to ensure that we never witness such a worrisome scene again. Anambra’s image is priceless, and we must guard it jealously,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Government has ordered the arrest of the security operatives involved, vowing that they will face the full weight of the law.
