Nigeria’s D’Tigers have secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2025 FIBA Men’s AfroBasket after defeating Cameroon 101-92 in a high-scoring encounter.
The victory ensured Mohammed Abdulrahman’s side finished top of Group B, having earlier claimed wins against Madagascar and defending champions Tunisia. Cameroon, who also defeated Tunisia and Madagascar in their opening two games, will now head to the play-offs to battle for a place in the last eight.
Both teams started strongly, with D’Tigers narrowly edging the first quarter 28-27. Nigeria, however, pulled clear in the second quarter to take a commanding 60-43 lead at half-time.
By the end of the third quarter, the Nigerians stretched their advantage to 86-55 before eventually sealing the win despite a late fightback from the Cameroonians.
D’Tigers will now face the third-placed team from Group A in the quarter-finals.
