Adeleke relaxes curfew in Osun communities

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the relaxation of the curfew imposed on the conflict-prone communities of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun, following improved security reports from the area.

The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, announced the development in a statement on Saturday, noting that the decision was based on positive feedback from security chiefs monitoring the situation.

Effective from Saturday, July 19, 2025, the curfew has been adjusted from the previous 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. schedule to a shorter window of 12:00 midnight to 4:00 a.m. daily. Authorities say the curfew will remain in place until full peace is restored.

Governor Adeleke expressed appreciation to traditional rulers—the Olufon, Olobu, and Elerin—as well as other local stakeholders, for their roles in fostering peace across the communities.

“Following the return of peace in the warring communities of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun, it gladdens my heart to direct that the hitherto 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew will now run from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 a.m. daily,” Adeleke said.

He also urged residents to continue to maintain peace, warning that anyone caught attempting to disrupt order would face the full weight of the law.

The governor further called on the 100-man Boundaries Resolution Committee overseeing the Ifon/Ilobu/Erin land dispute to accelerate efforts toward a permanent resolution.
