ADC vows to end hunger, slash fuel prices if voted into power in 2027
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pledged to eradicate hunger and drastically reduce the prices of petroleum products if given the mandate to govern Nigeria in the 2027 general elections.
The party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the declaration during a visit to his ancestral home at Anifowoshe Compound, Ubadanwaki Ward, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday. Abdullahi, a former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, met with community members to inform them of his new role and to seek their prayers and support.
Speaking with journalists, Abdullahi said Nigeria’s current economic hardship has made it evident that citizens are ready for a change in leadership.
“With the level of hunger in the land, our job is already half done,” he said. “The real task ahead is convincing Nigerians that we, the ADC, are the true alternative. Anyone experiencing suffering today already knows they no longer want the APC. What remains is for us to show that we are different—that we offer hope.”
Abdullahi criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for what he described as catastrophic policies that have worsened the lives of ordinary Nigerians, especially following the removal of fuel subsidies and rising inflation.
“A vulcaniser who needs fuel for his pump knows how tough things are now. Parents who give money to their children for school feeding understand the hardship. Five thousand naira today is not even worth what 500 naira was before APC came to power,” he said.
He alleged that the APC had deliberately weakened major opposition parties such as the PDP, SDP, LP, and NNPP in an attempt to prevent any serious challenge in the 2027 elections.
“This is why respected politicians across the political spectrum came together to form ADC,” he added.
On the party’s plans if elected, Abdullahi outlined key priorities including food security, fuel price reduction, and tackling insecurity.
“I’ve experienced hunger before, so I know how painful it is. The first thing we’ll do is eradicate hunger,” he said. “Next, we’ll bring down the cost of fuel, because current prices make it impossible for businesses to thrive. We’ll also focus on ending the growing insecurity across the country.”
He cited areas like Patigi, Ifelodun, and Babanla in Kwara State, where he said banditry and kidnappings have become rampant, even preventing him from accessing his own farm in the region.
Abdullahi emphasized that the ADC represents a coalition of credible politicians from various parties committed to restoring peace, stability, and prosperity in Nigeria.
“With God’s help, and the support of Nigerians, we will bring comfort and peace back to our country,” he said.
