Victor Boniface undergoes medical ahead of AC Milan move

AC Milan have cancelled their move for Nigeria striker Victor Boniface after the player failed medical tests in Italy.

The 24-year-old forward had been set to join from Bayer Leverkusen on a deal worth a €5 million loan fee plus a €24 million buy-back clause, but the transfer collapsed at the final stage.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Boniface has returned to Germany, with no green light on the switch.

Leverkusen sporting director, Simon Rolfes, told BILD that the deal was effectively over once the striker rejoined the Bundesliga side.

“If Boniface comes back to Leverkusen, the AC Milan deal will be over. Renegotiating the deal? I don’t think that will happen,” Rolfes said, while noting that the striker’s fitness had improved.

The failed move is a setback for Milan’s transfer plans and raises fresh questions about Boniface’s physical condition ahead of the new Bundesliga season.
