Laven Denty Jacob, member representing Pankshin South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, has regained his freedom after being abducted from his Jos residence.

Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Kwarpo Sylvanus, confirmed the development on Wednesday, saying the lawmaker has rejoined his family in good health.

“He has been successfully released, though we cannot confirm if any ransom was paid. What matters is that he returned safely last night,” Sylvanus said.

He commended the swift efforts of security agencies and residents, while urging communities to remain alert and report suspicious movements. He also suggested that vigilante groups could help strengthen local security.

“The Assembly will continue to advocate for stronger legislation that enhances the state’s security architecture,” he added.

Jacob’s abduction occurred late Monday night at his residence in Anguwan Kagji, Dong community, Jos North Local Government Area.

The incident followed two recent kidnappings in the area involving a corps member and a University of Jos student, heightening concerns about the growing insecurity across Plateau communities.
